Alex Herrera grew up in Colombia, in a humble family where hard work, unity, and perseverance were part of daily life. His mother was the first to teach him that a song coul become a refuge, comfort, and strength. While studying law, Alex dedicated every free moment to producing songs and building, along with his brothers, their own artistic project. As the eldest of four siblings, he naturally assumed leadership: he organized, produced, directed, and dreamed of taking that music much further. Music ceased to be a hobby. It became a life project and a family promise.

“For many years I thought my musical story was over. Life took me down paths I never imagined: I lost people I loved deeply, I left my country and had to start over. I arrived in the United States without speaking the language and without a network of contacts. With hard work, discipline, and perseverance, I built a new life and became an entrepreneur. Even so, there was a dream that never disappeared. Although I was silent as a singer for fourteen years, I never stopped producing, recording, mixing, creating, and supporting other artists. The music was still there, waiting. Today I return to honor the memory of my mother, my brother Harold, and all the people who have had to rebuild their lives far from their homeland. I hope that, when you listen to my songs, you find a part of your own story in them.”
After his mother’s death, Alex found the strength to continue and focused his energy on boosting the artistic career of his younger brother, Harold Herrera. Together they developed a style that helped pave the way for the sound that is now recognized as Regional Colombian music. Harold’s passing wasn’t just about losing a brother. It was about losing his partner in dreams. Every song was a reminder of his absence, and every stage seemed incomplete.
Amidst the pain and the difficult context of insecurity that gripped Colombia, Alex made one of the hardest decisions of his life: to emigrate to the United States and start over. Like millions of immigrants, he had to reinvent himself. He worked tirelessly, learned a new culture, and faced the challenges of building a completely new life. With discipline and perseverance, he established himself as a businessman. Every step represented a victory, but behind every achievement remained the memory of the music and the dream he had left behind in Colombia.
Emigrating didn’t erase his story. It gave it a new dimension. Although he stopped singing publicly, Alex never abandoned music. For fourteen years, he continue developing his skills as a music producer, recording, mixing, and mastering engineer, artistic director, manager, and audiovisual producer. That work allowed him to perfect every dimension of his craft and understand music from all angles: performance, production, image, and strategy.
For over a decade, he helped other artists advance while his own project waited for the right moment.
The Return: 2026
In 2026, Alex Herrera decided to return to the stage. Not because the pain had disappeared, but because he understood that the best way to honor the memory of his mother and Harold was to live the dream they had shared.
Thus, Alex Herrera, La Voz del Despecho (The Voice of Heartbreak), was officially born. With “Mi Proposición” (My Proposition), the Colombian singer, producer, and songwriter presents a proposal that combines the essence of Regional Colombian music with influences from Regional Mexican music. His return is not about reconstructing the past, but about opening a new chapter with identity, maturity, and purpose.
